The Nanjing International Exhibition Center (hereinafter referred to as the National Exhibition Center) was completed and put into operation in 2000, and is affiliated with the Nanjing Tourism Group, a large-scale tourism industry investment platform of the Nanjing Municipal Government. The venue is located on the east bank of Xuanwu Lake, a national 5A level scenic spot, at the western foot of Zijin Mountain. It is a large multi-functional intelligent venue that integrates exhibitions, conferences, tourism, weddings, catering, and commercial leisure. It is a landmark building and city card of Nanjing.

The National Exhibition Center has successively won titles such as Jiangsu Province Civilized Unit, Nanjing City Civilized Unit, Jiangsu Province Top Ten Exhibition Venues, and National Exhibition Host Satisfaction Venue. In May 2020, the National Exhibition Center officially passed the UFI (Global Exhibition Industry Association) membership certification, marking the internationalization of the exhibition hall's software, hardware, and service experience. In December 2020, the annual industry event "China Exhibition Brand Development Conference" hosted by the National Convention and Exhibition Working Committee and the China Exhibition Industry Expert Committee announced that the National Exhibition Center was awarded the title of "2019-2020 China Exhibition Brand Venue". The 2021 China Exhibition and Convention Economy Research Association Annual Conference and China Exhibition and Convention Economy Forum officially released the "2020 China Exhibition and Convention Statistics", which shows that among the 298 venues put into use nationwide, the utilization rate of the National Exhibition Center exhibition hall ranks among the top three in the country, second only to Shenzhen and Shanghai, and has risen seven places from the national ranking in 2019.

The National Exhibition Center has a building area of 120000 square meters and an indoor exhibition area of 35000 square meters. It has 5 exhibition halls and can accommodate 2000 international standard booths. There are also two outdoor exhibition areas on the east and south sides of the main building, with an outdoor exhibition area of 30000 square meters. The National Exhibition Center has a large conference function, with a column free multifunctional hall on the third floor covering an area of nearly 3000 square meters. It can hold large-scale international seminars, exchange meetings, speeches, and press conferences for 3000 people, as well as cocktail parties, buffet meetings, large evening parties, various celebrations, and large wedding banquets for over a thousand people. The hall is equipped with LED screens and can be divided into three independent areas as needed. There is also a 1400 square meter observation hall on the third floor, which can host various dining and exhibition activities. There are 9 small and medium-sized conference rooms on the conference floor of the exhibition hall, which can hold various forms of conference activities for 20-300 people.

As an important platform for the exhibition economy in Nanjing, the Nanjing International Exhibition Center has successfully hosted many large-scale professional exhibitions and conferences both domestically and internationally since its operation in 2000, including the 6th World Chinese Business Congress, China Medical Equipment Fair, China Tourism Fair, China Knitted Cotton Products Fair, 2nd Summer Youth Olympic Games Equestrian Venue Obstacle Race, China International Graphene Innovation Conference, China Hospital Information Expo, National Public Welfare Industry and Health Festival, International RV Camping Exhibition, etc; Numerous large-scale regional exhibitions have been held, including the Yangtze River Delta High Definition Audiovisual Expo, Purple Gold Competition Exhibition, Nanjing International Finance and Trade Fair, China (Nanjing) International Sugar, Wine and Food Trade Fair, China Nanjing Cultural and Creative Industry Trade Fair, Asia Outdoor Products Exhibition, Jiangsu International Catering Expo, the 7th National Surveying and Mapping Geographic Information Technology Equipment Exhibition and National Surveying and Mapping Geographic Information Expo, China International Circular Economy Exhibition, China (Nanjing) Beidou Satellite Navigation Application Expo and Beidou Summit Forum, etc.
