The Fuzhou Strait International Convention and Exhibition Center is located in Cangshan District, Fuzhou City, adjacent to the Minjiang River to the north and the Fuzhou South Railway Station to the south. It is currently one of the largest individual convention and exhibition centers in China and the second largest in Asia. It was completed and put into use on May 18, 2010. The Fuzhou Strait International Convention and Exhibition Center consists of a conference center and two exhibition halls, covering an area of over 2000 acres with a total construction area of approximately 380000 square meters, including 230000 square meters above ground and 150000 square meters underground. It is 10 times larger than the Jinshan Exhibition City in Fuzhou, and its construction scale is among the top in the country.
The exhibition center is surrounded by various public buildings and cultural and entertainment facilities, and the surrounding road network is well-developed. The eastern end of Nanjiangbin Avenue passes through the island, and Gushan Bridge and Kuiqi Bridge cross the Minjiang River upstream and downstream of the exhibition island. Pandun Road (some road signs are called "Xiazhou Road"), Linpu Road, and Phase II of the Third Ring Road, together with Fuxia Road and the expressway connecting line, form a well connected transportation network for the exhibition island.
This exhibition center is currently at the highest level in Fuzhou and will strive to win the Luban Award, the highest quality award for civil engineering and architecture in China, after completion. The person in charge of relevant departments in Fuzhou introduced that the design scheme was proposed by the internationally renowned German Obermayer Architecture Design Institute, while the preliminary design and construction drawing design were undertaken by the Beijing Institute of Architectural Design and Research. The institute has completed many major project design works in Beijing, such as the design of iconic constructions such as the Great Hall of the People, the National Museum, and Terminal 3 of Beijing Capital Airport. The construction of the exhibition center was carried out by China State Construction Engineering Corporation, which has just completed projects such as the Water Cube and the new site of CCTV.  
It is reported that the Fuzhou Strait International Convention and Exhibition Center will extensively use reinforced concrete and steel structures, and adhere to the design concepts of energy conservation, environmental protection, and multifunctionality. Firstly, the exhibition center uses glass walls with insulation layers inside. The roof is mainly made of metal and equipped with multiple glass daylighting strips to assist in natural lighting of the exhibition hall and save electricity. The roof mainly adopts an electrically openable metal roof that can breathe freely, which not only allows for natural ventilation and lighting, but also can be opened during fire warning situations for natural smoke exhaust. The opening ceremony hall located in the middle will be entirely covered with glass roof, providing natural lighting.
Exhibition Hall Scale
The exhibition hall has one underground floor and three above ground floors, with a total construction area of 300276m2. The two exhibition halls are located on the east and west sides of the central axis of the exhibition island, with a total length of about 468m and a width of about 130m. The net exhibition area of a single exhibition hall is 40000m2, which can be divided into four exhibition halls and set up 2024 international standard booths. The underground layout consists of a 907 parking lot and 82000m2 commercial space, with a sunken plaza connecting the plaza and the underground commercial area.
